Dave Owen-Barker Dip.FS, Cert.FS, LMBIFD

Dave is the managing director, accounts manager and one of the funeral directors at Hayley Owen’s. He is a qualified funeral director Licenced and Certified with the British Institute of Funeral Directors and currently holds the qualification of Dip FS with the B.I.F.D He is also an Appointed Representative of Ecclesiastical funeral plans, part of our 24-hour call-out team and a bearer and driver at funerals. Dave is very proud of both the company’s reputation and of the quality of service offered, which he believes is second to none. He constantly strives to deliver a service to families which he thinks and hopes they find of a very high standard. Dave’s other passion is Lambretta scooters. You may see him riding one of his many Lambrettas around the city as he enjoys riding up and down the country and across Europe to Lambretta rally's, or just relaxing with his dachshunds Trixie and Dexter.

Beth Harron Dip.FS, Cert.FS, MBIFD

Beth is a qualified funeral director Licenced and Certified with the British Institute of Funeral Directors and currently holds the qualification of Dip FS with the B.I.F.D. Beth works in the office, conducts and arranges funerals and she is also part of our 24-hour-call-out-team. Beth wants to be a funeral director because she would like to be able to help families through one of the most difficult times in their life and try make it easier for them. She knew this was what she wanted to do from a young age because of her own experience of a family member passing away and not being treated properly. She has also grown up within the industry as her dad is a qualified embalmer with the BIE.

Garry Vilmans, SMBIFD

Garry has been a funeral director for many years in and around York. He started this career path as a casual bearer for his friends company. Through this, he realised that he had a great passion for helping to support and guide families in their most difficult times of need. He then chose to work his way up, becoming a Funeral Director in 2014. He will be beginning his formal qualifications in May 2024, Garry was delighted to be offered a role at Hayley Owen's Funeral Directors, preffering the more personal approach that they offer.. Garry is also an Appointed Representative of Ecclesiastical funeral plans,At home, Garry enjoys spending time with his wife and twins who are 8 years old.

Angela Clarke Cert.FS, MBIFD

Angela works on reception answering the telephone and helping in the office, but is always happy to help out where needed. She has worked in reception and admin for most of her working life. She is active in her local parish church where she was the Pastoral Assistant for 8 years. During this time, she was encouraged and supported to conduct funeral services of faith as a lay ministry where she supported many bereaved families. It was through this work that she had a desire to work in funeral care. The opportunity arose and she went to work for a large funeral company for a brief time, before coming to work at Hayley Owen's which is independent and more personal. Angela finds it a privilege to work with, and help families during their most vulnerable time in life.

Andrew Sargent MBIE, SMBIFD

Andrew joins us with an impressive background, having served as last year’s Chairman of the British Institute of Embalmers Yorkshire divison With his extensive experience and dedication, Andy will be serving as an embalmer, funeral operative, casual bearer and part of our on call team. His expertise and compassionate approach align perfectly with our commitment to providing the highest level of care and service to our community.

Amy Pipes

Amy is our office manager. She graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University with an events management degree and brings a wealth of experience in administration and customer service skills. Her past work experience has been varied starting her career as a wedding planner. She is very organised and efficient. Amy is looking forward to working is a small personal company and very proud to be working for Hayley Owen Funerals. Amy is often the first point of contact when people call or pop into the office. She is always happy to assist with your needs. Out of the office, Amy always has always got a personal project going on whether this be children's birthday parties, friends baby showers or big birthday celebrations. She also loves walking, keeping fit and spending time with her husband and 2 children.

Peter Owen

Peter is Hayley's dad. He retired in 2011 but he joined us from the beginning December 2015. He works part-time for us as a bearer and driver. He is also willing to be called at any time to collect the deceased and generally help in any way possible. He is a friendly face to welcome grieving families and support the Funeral Director in their role. He also has a love for classic cars and can fix almost anything.

Dexter & Trixie

We are a Dog-Friendly Business At Hayley Owen Family Funeral directors, we have witnessed firsthand how dogs can provide invaluable support to bereaved families. Hayley & Dave, the owners of our funeral company, have a special companion in Trixie bereavement dog. Although dogs have no formal training to assist with grief and bereavement, some possess a natural aptitude for this role. Having been around bereavement services for years, Trixie has developed an extraordinary gift for providing support and solace to those in need. We know that not everyone is a dog lover, so we respect your preferences. Trixie can sit in on funeral arrangements and visits only when requested. Our funeral home is dog-friendly for those who wish to bring their canine companions along. We provide water and a comfortable space for your dogs to relax near you during these emotional times. We understand the importance of having your dog close when you need them most Dexter is a shy Dog but, once he see you pick up the dog biscuit he may come to you, he a bit of a mummys boy.
